Choir Concert 2010 @ 8:15 PM
HEY CHOIRRRR!

We need people who are willing to contribute for the CONCERT!
J1s, J2s and seniors are all welcomed!

So please sms your SLs (who will inform bak kut teh) or Bak Kut Teh himself (Tenor's Yanjun) if you're interested in helping out with:
-costume
-props
-publicity materials
like posters/invitation cards/ticket stub design (don't we all love our ticket stubs!)/ programme booklet!

It's a great way to express your creative inputs as well, and we really want more people to have a part in organising this. So come help split the load (because the weight of the world -homework- is upon all of us!) and most importantly, it's YOUR time to BE INVOLVED :D

(omgosh we're only allowed 30 tags max! So please help spread the word and encourage your choir mates to join in the fun as well! :D)

This is Olomouc Square! Are you guys excited?

Love,
Nabi & Oli

Sleep @ 11:00 AM

The evening hangs beneath the moon
A silver thread on darkened dune
With closing eyes and resting head
I know that sleep is coming soon

Upon my pillow, safe in bed
A thousand pictures fill my head
I cannot sleep my minds a flight
And yet my limbs seem made of lead

If there are noises in the night
A frighting shadow, flickering light
Then I surrender unto sleep

Where clouds of dreams give second sight

What dreams may come both dark and deep

Of flying wings and soaring leap

As I surrender unto sleep
As I surrender unto sleep

This piece is by the brilliant Eric Whitacre.

Enjoy :)

O Magnum Mysterium @ 10:48 AM
O Magnum Mysterium is a responsorial chant from the Matins of Christmas. This version is by Francis Poulenc.

Francis Jean Marcel Poulenc (January 7, 1899 - January 30, 1963) was a French composer and a member of the French group Les Six. He composed music in genres, including art song, chamber music, oratorio, opera, ballet music, and orchestral music. Critic Claude Rostand, in a July 1950 Paris-Presse article, described Poulenc as "half monk, half delinquent" ("le moine et le voyou"), a tag that was to be attached to his name for the rest of his career.

Latin text

O magnum mysterium,
et admirabile sacramentum,
ut animalia viderent Dominum natum,
jacentem in praesepio!
Beata Virgo, cujus viscera
meruerunt portare
Dominum Christum.
Alleluia.

English translation

O great mystery,
and wonderful sacrament,
that animals should see the new-born Lord,
lying in a manger!
Blessed is the Virgin whose womb
was worthy to bear
Christ the Lord.
Alleluia!

Enjoy :)
